18' coax myth

This damn myth just won't die. It doesn't help when manufacturers always put 18 ft of cable in with their antenna combos.

im not using the factory antennas. i have a single fire stik on the top of the driver's mirror bracket/frame. a 6 foot coax from antenna to cb radio that's mounted in the prostar overhead compartment. have also ran the same setup on a crapcadia. i think the mirror bracket for freightliner was $40-$50 from the cb shop here. it's a single piece, thick steel bracket.

no, i use the meter on the cb. cb has a calibration mode

Yep that is a built in swr meter.

yeah i just follow the instructions in the cb booklet when i put  it in the truck. from time to time i recheck it.
